Update June 7:

The national totals for Tim Hortons Camp Day are now in.

A release says Tim Hortons Guests and Restaurant Owners raised a record-breaking $13.7 million, helping to send more than 20,000 children from low-income families to camp for a life-changing experience.

The company’s annual Camp Day raised $24,904, ahead of last year’s $24,218.

That was from coffee and bracelet sales at the six outlets in Vernon, and the ones in Armstrong and Enderby.

Local spokesperson Taylor MacInnis says it’s a cause that resonates with a lot of their customers.

“A lot of customers request certain children to go, and they know of certain families that could have their kids use that experience.”

The funds are used to send kids from low income families to summer camps, including some kids from this area.

“There was lots of participants and volunteers that helped us out,” adds MacInnis.

There is no word yet how much was raised nationally, but over the past 25 years, more than $162 million has been raised for the Tim Horton Children’s Foundation, allowing more than 237,000 kids to go to camp.
