The aftermath of the fatal truck crash in Sicamous has been cleaned.

The Columbia Shuswap Regional District (CSRD) said water testing showed the water at Sicamous Beach Park was back within safe levels, and the beach and surrounding areas were reopened at 3:30 p.m. Thursday, August 29.

The CSRD added the guard rail on Bruhn Bridge had been replaced, and the bridge was reopening in both directions. However, the speed limit was still reduced to 50 km/h as the bridge was still considered a work site, with traffic signs and flaggers in place.

The bridge was damaged and the water contaminated following a semi-truck crash Saturday, August 24.

The crash saw a truck go off the bridge and into the Sicamous Narrows channel, and the driver and sole occupant died in the crash.

Police were investigating the crash, and anyone with information was asked to contact the Sicamous RCMP at 25-836-2878.
