North Okanagan wildfire under control

The B.C. Wildfire Service says a wildfire discovered Sunday northeast of Lumby, is now classified as under control.

That means it’s not projected to spread beyond the current perimeter.

The fire near Sigalet Lake is estimated at 0.24 of a hectare in size.

The service has determined the fire was caused by a dry lightning strike.

As of 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, there were 131 active wildfires in B.C., including 36 new starts in the last 24 hours.

There are four active fires in the Kamloops Fire Centre with three under control and the other being held.
