Arena Expansion Going Well
Work at the site of the Kal Tire Place expansion has been underway for a month.
The City’s Recreation Director Doug Ross says So far…..so good.
“Excavation I believe is complete and they’ve already had concrete trucks there and they’re pouring forms, so things are moving along nicely”
He says there was one surprise during the digging –but it was a pleasant surprise.
“We found the location of a storm pipe was actually lower than what it was believed to be, which actually ended up benefiting the project. So, everything’s been green lights and alright. It’s been good.”
One issue they’re having according to Ross is that some people have been trying to access the Farmer’s Market on the lane west of the existing building.
“People can access our new parking lot at the front of that lane, but they can’t drive the rest of the way down the west lane because that’s blocked off for construction.”
The 400 seat, 13 million dollar facility will be done by by the fall of 2018.
