Lightning sparks spot fire near Okanagan Mountain Provincial Park

A small fire was ignited south of Kelowna during the thunderstorm on Monday.

The B.C. Wildfire Service said the fire was discovered near Okanagan Mountain Provincial Park, south of Kelowna and across the lake from Peachland, at approximately 5:35 p.m. June 17.

The fire, which was estimated at being 9 m2 in size, was classified as being held as of 8:36 p.m. that same evening.

The BCWS said the fire was suspected of being caused by a lightning strike.
