JCI Gala Raises Funds For VJH Cardiac Equipment
Vernon Jubilee Hospital Foundation is celebrating the its latest donation.
Twenty-six thousand 800 dollars has come in from the 8th annual JCI Hospital Gala held April 22nd.
Hospital Foundation spokesperson Sue Beaudry says the funds will be used to buy lifesaving emergency cardiac equipment for the emergency department.
“It’s going to be used when people are in cardiac distress and they need to be transported from our emergency department at Vernon Jubilee to KGH, to the cardiac care unit there.”
Sue Beaudry says currently if someone has to be transported, some of the equipment being used in the emergency department has to be used for transport.
The new equipment will be a designated kit.
“If somebody else comes into the emergency department and needs to be monitored while that piece of equipment is gone, they’re not rushing around trying to borrow something from one of the floors. They’ve got what they need right there..”
Since 2011, The JCI Gala has raised 166 thousand, 132 dollars for areas of need at Vernon Jubilee Hospital.
JCI Vernon – Junior Chamber International – is an organization for young people between the ages of 19 and 40 who have a desire to better themselves and the communities they live in.
