Flooding Makes Fundraiser More Vital

May 26, 2017 | 9:38 AM

Flooding around the North Okanagan this spring has increased the importance of a local charity’s fundraising event.

The Kindale Developmental Association, which will host the 3rd annual Vernon Golf Spectacular June 10 at the Vernon Golf Club, had two of its sites in Armstrong flooded earlier this month.

“Since the recent flooding of two of the Kindale locations in Armstrong, now more than ever funds raised from this tournament are vital. For Special Olympics BC – Vernon, funds raised will assist with the purchase of team uniforms and equipment, as well as taking sports programs to competitions throughout the province,” says Cindy Masters, Kindale Development Officer.

A few more teams are needed for the event which also supports Special Olympics BC – Vernon.

“Partnership, passion, purpose and empowering ability are the driving forces behind the Vernon Golf Spectacular” says Masters. “Community coming together to make a difference is what it is all about”!

Joining in the fun for a photo with the golfers, coaches and organizing committee is Sports Professional and Hole In One Sponsor from Baron Insurance, golfing since he was 5 years old – Mike Petreny (2nd from left in photo).

The event includes lunch, dinner and 18 holes of golf.
