Prayer Breakfast To Honour Community Leaders

May 23, 2017 | 8:20 AM

Several people will be gathering in Vernon tomorrow morning for the first Greater Vernon Prayer Breakfast.

Reverend Rob Parker, former Pastor at Community Baptist Church on Silver Star Road, now in Ottawa as founder of the National House of Prayer will preside over the breakfast.

He says these are happening right across Canada to celebrate community leaders

” Honour those who are serving in our communities. And it I really believe helps the church step out of our, our kind of denominational backgrounds and come together as Christians to really honour those who do serve.”

Reverend Parker says it’s important to send a message.

” We know that you guys are making tough decisions and we want you to know that the church, Christians and citizens of Vernon are concerned and really genuinely care.”

He says sometimes, there’s not enough thanks going out.

I work in Ottawa, visiting with members of Parliament daily I know from first-hand experience these individuals, there’s not a lot of thankfulness in their jobs, so this is a great opportunity to do that.”

The prayer breakfast is being held at the Vernon Lodge & Conference Centre.

Among those attending tomorrow are Mayor`s Akbal Mund and Kevin Ashton and MP Mel Arnold along with business leaders and first responders.”
