Power line down and sparking in Vernon

Emergency crews are dealing with a downed power line in Vernon.

The line was down at the intersection of 45th Avenue and 25th Street, east of the Budget Car Rental store, just before 11 a.m. Friday, August 4.

Dispatch reports said the power line was sparking.

Vernon Fire Rescue Services responded to the downed line, and told dispatch, B.C. Hydro would need to attend the scene.

The cause of the downed line was not disclosed.

The fire department had blocked off the intersection of 45th Ave. and 25th St. and the downed line was not affecting traffic around the area, including on 27th St.

It is not yet known how many properties are affected by the downed line, nor when B.C. Hydro would be on the scene.
