UPDATE:

March 30, 2023

We now know why about 12 police vehicles were spotted driving through Vernon at a high rate of speed on Wednesday morning (Mar. 29) with their lights and sirens on.

The members of the RCMP’s Emergency Response Team, based in Kamloops, were headed southbound, on their way to the community of Greenwood where they helped arrest a suspect in a break and enter in Osoyoos earlier in the day.

Police say the alleged break in occurred at a home under construction in the South Okanagan community.

A 37-year-old man from Greenwood was taken into custody and is facing charges of break and enter and failing to comply with his probation order.

Greenwood is located on Highway 3 in south-central B.C., just north of the Canada/United States border, 80 km east of Osoyoos and 36 km west of Grand Forks.

UPDATE:

March 29, 2023

RCMP are not releasing details on an incident involving the South East District Emergency Response Team, but say it is not in the North Okanagan.

Further details, when appropriate, will be released by the detachment of jurisdiction
