The Coquihalla Highway remains closed between Merritt and Hope due to the danger of avalanches.
Drive BC says avalanche control work and clean up of that section of Highway 5 continues.
The next update will be at 3 p.m. Saturday.

More than 70 centimetres of snow fell on that section earlier this week.
Highways 1 and 3 are alternate routes between the Coast and the Interior. However, drivers on both routes can expect significant delays.

March 3, 2023 story
Drive BC says the Coquihalla Highway (Highway 5) will remain closed until tomorrow between Hope and Merritt due to extreme avalanche conditions.
Avalanche control will be conducted Saturday morning.
The next update on the highway is scheduled for 1 p.m. Saturday.
In the meantime, the maintenance contractor has deployed crews and equipment to clear the highway to ready it for travel when avalanche control has been completed.
More than 70 centimetres of snow has fallen on this section of Highway 5 within the past 48 hours, with more expected overnight.
