Warning issued for street drugs in Kelowna

Interior Health has issued a drug alert for Kelowna.

The health authority said a pink and purple chalky street drug being sold as a fentanyl downer contains high Benzodiazepines, the drug that negates the effectiveness of Naloxone.

The drug is 10 to 15 per cent Benzodiazepine, and Interior Health states both concentrations of fentanyl and benzos are higher than average.

It warns that the drug possesses a high risk of fatal overdose.

Interior Health encourages users to not use alone and to use a safe consumption site, to have their substances checked, to carry Naloxone with them, and to use the LifeGuards app.
