Local MLA pays tribute to Green Shirt Day inspiration
Today is Green Shirt Day — a day to highlight organ donor awareness and the need for registered organ and tissue donors.
Shuswap MLA Greg Kyllo recognized the event in the B.C. Legislature today and paid tribute to Logan Boulet, a hockey player who died in the Humboldt Broncos bus crash on April 4, 2018, but helped to save the lives of six people through organ donation.
“Logan’s selfless act has opened up the conversation about organ donation, inspiring thousands of Canadians to register as donors and to carry Logan’s legacy forward,” Kyllo told his colleagues in Victoria.
The Liberal MLA said almost 90 percent of Canadians say they support organ donation, but only 32 per cent have actually registered as donors.
