Update to Order on Workplace Safety

Workers able to return to offices

Feb 17, 2022 | 1:45 PM

Workers in B.C. will be transitioning back into their workplaces.

Dr. Bonnie Henry has updated the Provincial Health Officer Order on workplace safety, removing the section that requires employers to allow staff to work from home if possible.

The order only applied to businesses where the nature of the work involved was able to be done from home. Businesses had the option to require employees on site if operations needed in-person staffing.

All workplaces must continue to have a COVID-19 safety plan in place, and the PHO’s Face Covering Order will still apply to most workplaces.

While many workplaces may be able to return to in-person work again, others may continue to operate through remote or hybrid models. The province encourages workplaces and businesses to choose the option that works best to fit their needs.
