Okanagan apple orchard turned into movie set

A well-known Okanagan orchard recently served as the backdrop for a made-for-TV movie.

Sweet As Pie was filmed at Gatzke Orchards in Oyama (Lake Country) last fall.

Orchard owner Alan Gatzke said it was pretty exciting to see the trailer for the movie.

“So cool to recognize the trees planted by my dad and the story unveiling at the house my sister built and the county fair in the agri-tourism event area behind our fruit stand,” Gatzke said on Facebook.

The movie’s plot centres around Tamara who visits her family’s apple orchard in hopes of taking a break from life. She begins to fall for her childhood best friend who is now the farm manager, and together they go to great lengths to keep the orchard alive.

The film by Reel One Entertainment stars Rhiannnon Fish and Kurt Szarka, and was directed by Jonathan MacPherson.

No release date for the movie has been announced yet.
