Name of woman found dead in park released

Police have released the name of a woman found dead in a Kelowna dog park in the hopes it will generate tips in the investigation.

The body of Austyn Godfrey, a 25-year-old from Ontario, was located in the 2100-block of Glenmore Road on Sunday, Jan. 16.

The RCMP Serious Crime Unit is working with the BC Coroners Service and an autopsy will be conducted to determine the cause of death.

“Investigators are asking the public for assistance,” said Cpl. Tammy Lobb, media relations officer. “Anyone who may have had any contact with Austyn Godfrey in the days and hours leading up to 8:30 a.m. on Sunday Jan. 16, is asked to call our tip line.”

Investigators are also asking motorists who drove Glenmore Road North, in the vicinity of the dog park, between 9:00 p.m. on Jan. 15 and 8:30 a.m. on Jan. 16 to check their dash cam footage.
