Several firearms were seized during a search of a Vernon residence on Thursday.

Vernon North Okanagan RCMP’s Targeted Policing Unit, along with the Southeast District Emergency Response Team (ERT), executed a firearms related search warrant at a residence in the 3700 block of 25th Avenue in the early morning hours of Jan. 6.

The search led to the discovery and seizure of a number of firearms and firearm-related items, including a 9mm firearm, a .22 calibre rifle, two handguns, a large quantity of ammunition, and several prohibited firearm suppressors and silencers.

“These firearms present a real and serious threat to the safety of our community,” said Constable Chris Terleski, Media Relations Officer for the Vernon North Okanagan RCMP.

“This seizure comes (as) a result of the hard work and dedication of our officers in keeping our community safe. Any time we take guns off our streets and out of the hands of criminals, it’s a win for our community.”

As a result of the search, 35-year-old Brandon Tarl Wilson of Vernon was arrested. He faces 16 firearm related charges and is due to appear in court Friday afternoon.
