Sep 9, 2021 | 4:20 PM

The Regional District of Central Okanagan board has agreed to provide water fee relief for customers of three systems impacted by the White Rock Lake wildfire.

The board will consider fees changes for the Killiney Beach, Westshore Estates and Upper Fintry, Shalal Road, Valley of the Sun systems at its next meeting September 27.

If approved, customers would not have to pay the basic user and consumption fees on their utility bills from August 1 to Sept. 30.

The following are other items from the Sept. 9 RDCO board meeting

RDCO Parks hazard tree policy

The Regional Board has adopted a hazard tree and tree management policy for RDCO parks.

The goal of the policy is to assist RDCO parks services staff in identifying potentially hazardous trees, especially in high-traffic visitor areas such as pathways, picnic areas and access/exit areas and scheduling maintenance work for identified trees.

The policy recognizes the importance of managing trees for visitor and worker safety, while balancing the responsibility to manage trees and conserve natural areas in the RDCO park system.

Development Permit extension request

The Regional Board has approved a one-year extension for a Development Permit (DP-20-09) application for a property at 2235 Westside Road.

The applicants propose to demolish an existing dwelling on the property and construct a new single-detached house along with associated servicing.

In addition, the property owners are working on resubmitting a development proposal for an adjoining parcel that will impact development plans for 2235 Westside Road.

Report on COSAR headquarters

The Regional Board has received a Building Needs Assessment report prepared for the Central Okanagan Search and Rescue (COSAR) organization.

The report highlights the need to secure a new home with centralized equipment storage and to assist with responses across the region.

Staff have been directed to provide a more detailed report within two months.
