B.C.’s vaccination registration up 200 per cent compared to last week

British Columbia’s vaccine program is picking up significant speed as over twice as many people registered for their shots on Tuesday compared to the same day the week before.

On Aug. 24, 10,175 new COVID-19 vaccine registrations were made and 9,486 new appointments were booked. That represents a 201 per cent increase in registrations and a 124 per cent increase in bookings compared to Tuesday, Aug. 17, which saw 3,279 new registrations and 4,228 appointment bookings.

Tuesday’s increase comes off the back of another influx of registrations and bookings on Monday. There were 8,909 new registrations on Aug. 23, up from the 3,242 the previous Monday, and 97,347 appointments, up from the 3,896 booked the Monday before.

“Getting vaccinated is the most important step we can all take to move out of this pandemic, and the momentum this week is positive news,” said Adrian Dix, Minister of Health.
