Power outage for 2,500 customers in Vernon area

UPDATE 8:45 a.m.

BC Hydro is no longer listing the Vernon outage.

Vernon residents are not only under an evacuation alert from the White Rock Lake fire, some are also without power.

BC Hydro is reporting 2,573 customers are impacted by an outage in Vernon and Spallumcheen with the cause “under investigation.”

The affected area is described as west of SILVER STAR RD, south of HWY 97 and north of 14TH AVE.

The power went off just before 8:00 a.m.

Hydro says a crew has been assigned to the incident with no estimate on when service could be restored at this point.

There are also outages in other parts of Vernon and in Lake Country which began around 3:00 a.m. this morning which Hydro says were caused by “fire.”
