Hundreds more on evacuation alert, dozens ordered out as White Rock Lake wildfire rages

The White Rock Lake fire near Westwold continues to grow.

The B.C. Wildfire Service estimates the size at 17,900 hectares, up 5,000 hectares from Monday’s estimate.

The Regional District of North Okanagan has issued an evacuation order for north and east of, and including Pinaus Lake, running south to include Bouleau Lake, east and south of Bouleau Lake and then west to the Thompson Nicola Regional District areas of evacuation alert and order (south of and parallel to Salmon River Forest Service Road).

The area includes multiple recreation sites in proximity of Pinaus Lake and Bouleau Lakes.

An evacuation alert includes:
Electoral Area B: east of Thompson Nicola Regional District and Columbia Shuswap Regional District (CSRD), north of Central Okanagan Regional District, west of Okanagan Indian Band Territory IR#1, and south of CSRD.

An evacuation order and alert were issued Tuesday by the Thompson-Nicola Regional District (TNRD). The order covers 11 properties in the Grasslands electoral area.

Properties on evacuation order include: 3566 Hwy. 97, 3665 to 3715 Mill Rd., 3706 to 3728 Monte Lake Rd., and any other properties within the boundary noted on the attached map.

The alert was issued to 277 properties near Westwold and Monte Lake in the Grasslands electoral area.

Properties affected include:

  • 3864 to 4745 Chase-Falkland Rd.
  • 956 to 2160 Dallas Dr.
  • 4545 to 4585 Demarni Rd.
  • 3941 Duck Range Rd.
  • 6265 to 6325 Eden Rd.
  • 6828 to 6910 Faulk Rd.
  • 3342 to 3625 Garrett Rd.
  • 4080 to 4195 Gowan Rd.
  • 2881 and 2930 Hanna Rd.
  • 9052 to 9710 Hidden Vale Ranch Rd.
  • 1257 to 2547 Hook Rd.
  • 2600 to 2832 Hwy. 97
  • 6459 to 6780 Karjula Rd.
  • 1677 to 1685 Lute Rd.
  • 3880 to 3946 Maddox Rd.

Elsewhere, the Columbia Shuswap Regional District issued an evacuation order for the southwest corner of Electoral Area D, which includes Will Lake and the west end of Pinaus Lake.

Affected addresses include: 6439, 6445, 6453, 6491, 6493, 6495, 6497, 6567, 6575, and 6633 Pinaus Lake Forest Service Rd.

The Regional District of North Okanagan issued an evacuation alert late Monday for the following areas:

North and East of, and including Pinaus Lake — running South to include Bouleau Lake.

East and South of Bouleau Lake – running west to the Thompson Nicolas Regional District Evacuation Alert and Order (South and parallel to Salmon River Fire Service Road)

Meanwhile, the City of Kamloops stated on social media that it’s aware the TNRD issued the evacuation alert that extends up to the southeast city boundary near Barnhartvale.

At this point, the city said the White Rock Lake Fire is not a threat to Kamloops, and B.C. Wildfire Service is monitoring the fire and will notify the city if it becomes a threat.
