UPDATE

RCMP continue to investigate an incident in Vernon where a young girl was hit by a vehicle in the downtown.

The collision on Friday afternoon (June 11) in the 3400 block of 30th Avenue near Freshco left the girl with undetermined injuries.

“The child was transported from the scene by BC Ambulance Service personnel with undetermined injuries. The driver of the vehicle remained at the scene and co-operated with police who are continuing to investigate the collision,” Constable Chris Terleski, media relations officer, said.

A friend of the victim’s family tells Vernon Matters the child is at home under observation, but is “doing OK.”

The friend says the incident is a reminder for drivers to be careful when around crosswalks.
