Vipers & Vees need overtime to settle Okanagan Cup

The Penticton Vees won the Okanagan Cup after a thrilling victory over the Vernon Vipers in the final game.

Jacob Quillan, a product of Dartmouth Nova Scotia, scored 1:14 into the first overtime for a 3-2 win at the South Okanagan Events Centre Saturday (Nov. 14) to bring the four-team BCHL exhibition series to an end.

Vernon got a goal from Will Arquiett with just under 2 1/2 minutes left in the third period to force the extra time.

Ryan Shostak got the other Viper goal.

Koen MacInnes took the loss in the Vipers net while Yaniv Perets got the victory.

In the KIJHL, the Chase Heat defeated the North Okanagan Knights 7-5 to open the new regular season.

The Armstrong-based Knights host the Kamloops Storm at 12:30 today.
