Update: Boil Water Notice
A boil water advisory for about 50 homes in Enderby will continue for a while yet.
The water line crossing the Shuswap River broke Wednesday.
Officials are looking at options to try to limit the boil water advisory for people east of the bridge.
Chief Administrative Officer Tate Bengtson says it looks like a new line is needed.
“Yes, this is probably more than a repair. We’re trying to explore to see if there are any of creative ideas for doing a line repair, but that line could be out of service for a while,”Bengtson tells Kiss FM.
It’s believed this winter’s freeze caused the pipe to rupture.
“The pipe segments are connected by supporting metal rods on the exterior of the pipe surface, and the pipe rods broke.”
Bengston says the pipe had been slated for replacement.
“And we applied for and received funding for a clean water wastewater fund grant to renew this in the fall.”
