Kal Lake Road Bids Under Review
A controversial project on Kalamalka Lake Road in Vernon, could get the green light to proceed soon.
The city’s Transportation Manager Amanda Watson says they have closed the tender process, and are currently reviewing the bids.
“We are just going over them. We haven’t awarded it yet,” she tells Kiss FM
Watson says there will be an update issued next week.
City council voted last month to close the road from Browne Road to the Alpine Centre for 9 to 12 weeks for a 2.8 million dollar project to add a multi use lane from 14th Avenue to the city boundary with Coldstream.
The city will be asking the successful contractor to work longer hours to cut three weeks off the time frame.
The project has angered businesses along the road, who are concerned customers and tourists won’t be able to get to their shops, with some saying they may not be able to stay open.
