Star Still Has Close To 300 CM Base

It was a huge year for snow at Silver Star — which led to to a near record year for the resort.

Operations manager Brad Baker says they were busy from Christmas until March, and ended the season with a 295 centimetre base.

“Unfortunately it’s continuing to snow and every flake that falls now is going to be in our way for summer, but we wrapped up on a really high note for weather and visits, so it was a really great year,” Baker tells Kiss FM.

Baker say they still have almost three metres of snow on the ground, which he says may take until mid to late May to melt.

He says they had close to a record year for skier visits.

“Not going to give the numbers out, but it was a really good year. It wasn’t a record year, but it was close to it, and it was certainly well ahead of the last couple of years.”

Baker says they will host the Snowmobile Hill Climb this Friday to Sunday weekend, and then get prepared for the summer season June 23rd.
