Sep 8, 2020 | 10:15 AM

UPDATE Sept. 8

A crash north of Vernon on Friday (Sept. 4) that caused traffic delays just as the long weekend was getting started ended up being fairly minor.

Police say a car was northbound on Highway 97 when it struck the centre concrete barricade near the weigh scales around 4:00 p.m.

“No reported injuries; however, the elderly driver was transported to hospital as a precaution. No other vehicles were involved,” said Cpl. Tania Finn, media relations officer for Vernon North Okanagan RCMP.

Sept. 4 story

Traffic has been a bit of a nightmare on Highway 97 north of Vernon this afternoon.

Crews have been dealing with a car stuck on a median after an accident near the weigh scales, impacting northbound traffic.

There’s also been a second accident several kilometres north of that towards Armstrong, just before the Otter Lake Cross Road turnoff, causing single lane traffic northbound.

No word on any injuries.
