IH says overdose prevention site not creating concerns
Interior Health says Vernon’s overdose prevention site has been lightly used since it opened in May.
During a presentation to city council, Mayor Victor Cumming said the health agency reported the facility is seeing an average of two to three people a day for overdose prevention services.
Council was also told there have been no concerns from nearby businesses.
“Some who have been in touch with us are quite satisfied in terms of just how quiet and undisturbed they are. The walk-in clinic that was there has shifted to another location downtown, so the number of people who are just physically there has been reduced dramatically,” Cumming told Vernon Matters.
