The public is reminded to remain vigilant in preventing human caused wildfires as we head into several days of plus-30 degree weather.

The local and provincial fire picture is remarkably quiet at the moment with just two active fires in the Kamloops Fire Centre (KFC) and 15 in the province.

A fire in the Six Mile Creek area northwest of Vernon that started from a structure fire and spread into the bush Tuesday is now officially out, according to the B.C. Wildfire Service.

The only fires in the KFC, Dry Lake north of Princeton, and Solco Creek north of Oliver, are both under control.
