Investigation Continues Into Needles On School Grounds

Apr 10, 2017 | 12:16 PM

The investigation continues into the discovery of needles on Harwood Elementary School grounds on Friday morning.

Some 50 needles were found.

School Superintendent Joe Rogers says the school district and Interior Health are working together to educate kids.

” The school nurse is there today talking to a number oif kids about safety. Also we have a drug and alcohol counsellor going over there this week to talk about safety around needles and all those issues.”

No needles were found in a sweep of the school ground this morning.

“Not that uh, on a Monday morning when the principals walk the grounds, absolutely not. They find other parapherenalia, people leave stuff, but needles, no. “
Rogers say it doesn’t appear the needles had been used.
I think there were 50 needles and 47 still had the caps on and I think the other ones just fell of when they hit the ground, right. So it looks like they were not used needles.”
The RCMP has yet to determine where the needles may have come from.
