Get out, get active for National Health and Fitness Day

Jun 5, 2020 | 12:07 PM

People are encouraged to have some fun, and get some excercise, for National Health and Fitness Day tomorrow.

While some facilities and activities continue to face restrictions due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Greater Vernon Recreation Services says there are still a number of ways people can enjoy some time outdoors with their family.

“During the COVID-19 pandemic, we understand it may feel like a challenge to stay active; however, B.C.’s provincial health officer has reminded us of the importance of getting outside, getting fresh air and getting our bodies moving to care for our physical, mental and emotional well-being. During the last few months, many of us have had to rethink how to keep moving to take care of ourselves,” a City of Vernon news release said.

The Greater Vernon Recreation Services team has joined with some of its partners to provide a number of ways to celebrate and participate.
