Witnesses sought in fatal crash

Jun 1, 2020 | 1:16 PM

The highway north of Kelowna was closed for several hours after a fatal crash was discovered this morning.

RCMP say a man was ejected from a vehicle and was found dead at the scene after a rollover crash in the 3100 block of Bulman Road.

Police say the crash occurred earlier than when it was discovered.

“This collision was not reported when it occurred,” said Cpl. Jocelyn Noseworthy of the Kelowna RCMP. “We are asking anyone who witnessed the collision, or has any information, to come forward and speak with us.”

Highway 97 was closed in both directions north of Kelowna between Carney Road and the UBC Okanagan Overpass, with a detour in effect,  until about 12:45 p.m. Monday.

The BC Coroners Service is also investigating to determine who died, and how, where, when and by what means they came to their unexpected death.

“Due to the privacy of the deceased, neither the RCMP nor the Coroners Service have any more details to share at this time,” said Noseworthy.

Anyone with any information can also contact the Kelowna RCMP at 250-762-3300, or remain anonymous by calling Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 or by leaving a tip online at www.crimestoppers.net.
