Vernon mall ready for return of shoppers

One of Vernon’s biggest retail complexes is ready to safely welcome back shoppers.

The Village Green Shopping Centre invited media to get a first-hand look at its safety measures at an event Friday.

“We have made many efforts at Village Green Shopping Centre to help ensure the continued safety of shoppers and our retailers, staff and contractors,” said Darren Robinson, marketing manager with BentallGreenOak.

The initiatives include welcoming ambassadors at the entrance, direction arrows, curbside pickup, and limited seating in the food court.

Robinson said 41 of the 62 businesses are open, with more to open over the next few weeks.

Here is a list of the measures:

  • Adjusted hours of operation
  • Reduced capacity in Food Court and washrooms
  • Installed directional signage for improved traffic flow
  • Installed informational signage on physical distancing and healthy habits
  • Assigned entrance and exit doors
  • Elevated cleaning protocols and techniques
  • Hired Village Green Shopping Centre welcome ambassadors to provide information and encourage safe practices while in the centre
  • Stocked ample supply of PPE for shoppers wishing to wear masks and gloves while shopping
  • Assigned dedicated PPE disposal bins
  • About to launch curb-side pickup program
