Four more deaths from COVID-19 in province

May 25, 2020 | 4:00 PM

Another four people died of COVID-19 in B.C. over the weekend, reported the province’s senior medical health officer on Monday.

Dr. Bonnie Henry said all were residents of longterm care.

Henry reported 12 new positive test cases for a total of 2,530 in the province.

That total included 194 confirmed cases in the Interior Health region.

There have been no new community outbreaks.

Henry also issued an assurance that the province’s food supply remains safe, even if the product comes from a facility where there are outbreaks.

“Just to be clear, there have not been any reported cases of food or food packaging associated with the transmission of COVID-19,” Henry said. “I have been receiving some questions about whether it’s safe to eat the products of some of the facilities where we have had outbreaks and the answer is ‘yes the food supply is safe and continues to be safe.'”

Henry said there is one week left for people to take part in a province-wide survey called ‘Your Story, Our Future’ on the COVID-19 response.

So far, more than 313,000 people have responded.
