Advice for Mother's Day

BC Covid update May 9: 15 new cases; two more deaths

May 9, 2020 | 12:28 PM

“We honour our mothers by keeping them safe.”

That was Dr. Bonnie Henrys message to British Columbians on Saturday, a day before Mother’s Day which is normally a big day for family gatherings.

“Let’s show how much we care about [our mothers] by ensuring we are doing all we can do to keep them safe,” said Henry, provincial health officer. “Safe physical distance remains an important part of what we need to do right now to keep all of our mothers and our communities safe.”

Henry said those measures are even more important if your mother is older, if she is waiting for surgery or has underlying health issues.

“Avoid that close physical contact. We honour our mothers by keeping them safe.”

Henry said you can spend time with mom outdoors which allows you to keep the safe two metre distance.
