Four new cases in IH

B.C. Covid update: 55 new cases; second death in IH

Apr 28, 2020 | 4:09 PM

British Columbia has 55 new cases of COVID-19 since Monday, including four cases in the Interior Health region.

There have been two new deaths for a provincial total of 105. One of those deaths was in the Interior Health region, a man in his 70s who died on April 27 following an admission to hospital in early April.

Dr. Bonnie Henry, the province’s health officer, says most of the new cases are associated to outbreaks at two poultry processing plants in the Lower Mainland.

About 58 per cent of the 2,053 B.C. cases have fully recovered, she said.

Henry said she is still thinking some of the health orders could be relaxed by mid to late May, but she wants to see case numbers continue to decline.

Henry said our ‘new normal’ will be a whole government approach in the weeks and months to come.

In the meantime, she said we must continue our social distancing to protect our elders, families and communities.

If you didn’t know, the province has a COVID-19 app which gives updates, critical alerts, the self-assessment tool and other resources. It can be downloaded from Google Play or Apple’s App Store.
