Lumby To Clean Up For Earth Day
Lumby wants to clean up for Earth Day.
Council has agreed to work with RCMP Constable Gary Mclaughlin who wants to organize the event April 22nd.
Acting Mayor Julie Pilon hopes a lot of people will join in.
” Basically we’re going to try to get as many volunteers. We’re going to clean up side streets. We’re going to clean up the park areas.”
Pilon says it’s not that the village is messy.
But there are people who decide to throw fast food containers to the side of the road instead of throwing them in the garbage.
Pilon says they have a lot of garbage cans around town, so they should be used.
She’s hoping for no surprises where people are using parts of Lumby as isolated garbage dumps.
” I know on the outlying areas there have been some issues but hopefully we don’t come across any.”
When the cleanup is over, a barbecue will also be held for the volunteers.
