Ski Delegates Meet At Silver Star

About 55 delegates from Canadian and US ski service providers are gathering at Silver Star to talk about the cross country ski industry.

Nordic Manager Shane Landreville says members of the Cross Country Ski Areas Association will be meeting Tuesday and Wednesday.

He says they will talk about best practices such as grooming and signage standards.

“Also, how to integrate new activities such as fat biking, into existing operations, while keeping the same Nordic feeling to everything,” Landreville tells Kiss FM.

Some of the participants are coming from as far away as Vermont, with others from ski operations in Quebec and Ontario, the Prairies, Alberta, and BC.

Landreville says Nordic is growing, with new people taking it up.

“There is new people taking it up as a sport. There is also a lot of skiers who are trying it for the first time for the lifestyle component and many for the fitness component, others just as a relatively inexpensive way to get out and enjoy winter,” he says.

“Silver Star does it all right’ says Reese Brown of the CCSAA. “We want to give our members a chance to have the Silver Star experience to see the industry leaders in action but also to see how Silver Star has integrated and build a culture and lifestyle around skiing, something that we can all learn from.”

Silver Star ends it alpine season this Sunday.
