City seeks input on Greater Vernon child care needs

Jan 7, 2020 | 2:22 PM

Local government is looking for public input on the type of child care needed in the Greater Vernon area.

Greater Vernon Recreation Services is holding an information and consultation session Tuesday, Jan. 14 at the Vernon Recreation Centre, with one session from 2 to 4 p.m., and the other from 7 to 9 p.m.

“In November 2019, a community survey was conducted to gather data about current and future child care needs in the Greater Vernon area. This was done to develop an action plan, which will provide guidance for community policies that support the creation and/or expansion of child care facilities over the next 10 years,” a City of Vernon news release said.

Next week’s consultation sessions will include the preliminary findings from that survey, and to provide an opportunity for attendees to discuss areas of need and potential solutions.
