WINTER STORM WARNINGS

Winter storm warnings in place for multiple BC highways

Dec 21, 2019 | 1:41 PM

Drivers are being asked to take caution today (Dec. 21), with many highways in the Interior and around BC under travel advisories, and winter storm warnings.

According to Environment Canada, a winter storm warning is in effect for the Coquihalla Highway from Hope to Merritt, and Highway 3 from Hope to Princeton along the Allison Pass.

The Trans-Canada Highway from Eagle Pass to Rogers Pass is also affected by the snow warning, along with the Okanagan Connector from Merritt to Kelowna.

Heavy snowfall is expected to continue today, bringing another 5 to 20 cm by late this afternoon, before ending tonight.

Numerous highway closures are in effect, and it’s recommended drivers check Drive BC to see if their route is included, and to consider alternate travel plans until conditions improve.
