Smokies too hot for Snakes

Nov 8, 2019 | 10:09 PM

The Trail Smoke Eaters took the front end of a double header with the Vernon Vipers in the Smelter City.

Budding star Kent Johnson netted a pair in Trail’s 5-2 win before a crowd of 2,437 at the legendary Comino Arena Friday night.

Johnson, from Port Moody B.C., leads the league with 45 points in 24 games.

Trey Taylor and Cameron MacDonald scored for Vernon who were playing their seventh straight road game, as they fell to 12-8-1-0.

The Snakes outshot the Smokies 29-24.

Trail, under coach Jeff Tambellini, leads all BCHL teams with 91 goals scored this season.

The teams square off again Saturday — same time, same place.
