Shaw becomes sponsor of BCHL playoffs

Shaw Communications is putting its name behind the B.C. Hockey League’s post season.

The Calgary-based company has become one of the league’s founding partners, signing a multi-year agreement that will see Shaw become the title sponsor of the BCHL Playoffs in March and April each season.

“Known as a well-respected communications company across Canada, Shaw is a great fit as one of the league’s founding partners,” said BCHL Commissioner Chris Hebb. “The playoffs are the highlight of the BCHL season, and we are excited to have Shaw helping to deliver the most exciting part of the year to the fans.”

The Shaw logo will be on the back of all 17 BCHL team jerseys, on the BCHL website, and in arenas across the province.

The BCHL and Shaw will also present a Shaw BCHL Community Hero Award where, each month of the regular season. Fans will have an opportunity to nominate a player whose achievements in the community stand above the rest. For more details, visit BCHL.ca/communityhero.

The two brands will also work in conjunction to launch the Shaw BCHL Scholarship Award, where five players, who did not receive an NCAA scholarship, will be chosen to receive a $2,000 Scholarship Award to a Canadian post-secondary institution.
