The VJH Foundation Charity Classic Golf Tournament is back for its 10th year, and is getting support from a well known hockey personality.

Former NHL goalie and current Hockey Night in Canada panelist Kelly Hrudey will be the emcee for the evening events which includes a live auction.

The tournament, which raises funds for hospital programs and equipment, will be held Sept. 8 at Predator Ridge Resort, and is sponsored by the Paul Docksteader Foundation.

“Register your team for the Charity Classic. This is the North Okanagan’s premier golf tournament supporting the best in healthcare for our region. Join other leaders in the community who participate annually in this prestigious event,” a news release from the Hospital Foundation said.

The foundation said the day includes: a hot breakfast buffet, putting contest, morning shotgun start, a Vegas scramble, and lots of fun on the course, capped off with a gourmet dinner and live auction.

“Golfing has a way of bringing people together, and in the case of this tournament, players and generous community sponsors unite for a common cause – the need for top quality health care right here at home,” Kate McBrearty, VJH Foundation interim executive director, said.

The Charity Classic has raised more than $1.7 million since 2010 and funds from the 2019 tournament will go toward surgical equipment at VJH.

Registration is already 75 per cent full, and sponsorship opportunities are still available.
