Thousands attend Sunshine Festival

The Downtown Vernon Association is pleased with the turnout of this year’s Sunshine Festival.

According to a spokesperson, about 12,000 people showed up to the 25th annual event

“The Sunshine Festival has certainly evolved from a merchant sidewalk sale to the large-scale community event that it is today,” Susan Lehman, Executive Director of the Downtown Vernon Association said. “There are benefits to each sector of the DVA membership during events such as these, from increased sales, customer appreciation opportunities, community engagement, to taking the afternoon to spend with family and friends in a festive and family-friendly environment.”

About 170 vendors lined 30th Avenue last Saturday. It was the highest number of vendors since the event’s inception.

The next Downtown Vernon events include the Civic Sounds Concert Series, which takes place on Thursdays outside of city hall. Try It at Justice Park, a weekly lunch hour wellness event takes place on Wednesdays.
