Fire burns hedge along 25th Avenue, RCMP investigate cause

A fire broke out in a hedge near a home along 25th Avenue in Vernon Monday.

The fire started over the noon hour in a bush in the 4000 block of 25th Avenue that backs onto a residence in the Spruce Landing complex on 27th Avenue.

The City of Vernon said Vernon Fire Rescue Services responded to the scene at approximately 12:09 p.m. to douse the flames.

Westbound traffic was reduced to one lane as crews sprayed down the fire, which was extinguished by 12:30 p.m.

While it was about 20 feet from a home, no structures were damaged by the fire and there were no injuries reported.

The RCMP was called to the scene to investigate the fire, the cause of which remained unknown as of time of publication.
