CMHA celebrates Mental Health Week

Vernon and District CMHA celebrates Mental Health Week

May 6, 2019 | 1:00 PM

It’s something that impacts nearly 1 in 5 Canadians and the Vernon Branch of the Canadian Mental Health Association is doing their part to raise awareness through their annual Mental Health Week.

” We encourage everyone in our community to take action during Mental Health Week to raise awareness about mental health. We all have mental health and have faced challenges from time to time. It is important for those facing challenges and need help to know they are not alone and it is ok to ask for help,” said Julia Payson CMHA Vernon and District Executive Director.

The local branch will be hosting two events during mental health week to educate and work to end the stigma.

On May 9 CMHA Vernon will be hosting a block party and barbecue at the Polson Park Band Shell from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m. The event will feature the 6 Shades of Grey band.

On Saturday, May 11, Mixing it Up for Mental Health will be taking place from 6p.m. – 9 p.m. Tickets are $50.00 and includes live music, wine tastings, drinks and appetizers.

All money raised goes towards local mental health initiatives, such as early intervention and youth programs.
