Hockey Player Charged in Baby Incident

A professional hockey player has been charged with an alleged assault on a toddler in Kelowna.

30 year old Harold Giffen Nyren of Calgary is accused of grabbing a baby from his mother in Kerry Park Sunday, and later fleeing from police by jumping into Okanagan Lake naked.

Police say the child was uninjured, and was taken to hospital to be examined.

Nyren, who goes by Giffen Nyren, is a former Kamloops Blazer who played professionally in France this season, is charged with assault and willfully resist or obstruct a police officer.
