Snow Expected in Mountain Passes

Snow Expected in Mountain Passes

Apr 26, 2019 | 9:53 AM

Snow is expected to fall on some highways in the Shuswap and Kootenays early this weekend.

Environment Canada has issued special weather statements for the Trans-Canada Highway – from Eagle Pass to Rogers Pass – and Highway 3 – from the Paulson Summit to Kootenay Pass.

The special weather statement says: “A transition to a showery pattern will begin across central and eastern B.C. later today as a trough of low pressure crosses the province. Freezing levels will drop in the wake of the system on Saturday causing rain showers to switch over to snow, particularly over the high mountain passes.”

A late season snowfall of 5 to 10 centimetres is expected, according to Environment Canada.
