Pot Shop #10 Before Council

City staff are recommending council support another pot shop in Vernon — which would be the tenth if they all get provincial approval.

It’s proposed for the former Royal Canadian Legion site at 3300 31st Avenue downtown.

The property has been vacant for a number of years, and has been used by homeless residents.

“The balance of the building is shown as undeveloped or vacant, and given the condition of the building and premises, this is a matter for concern,” says Craig Broderick, Manager of Current Planning, in a report to council. “As a condition of support for a non-medical cannabis retail store at this location, Administration recommends that the western portion of the existing building, be demolished prior to issuance of the City business license if the Province approves the application for a Non-Medical cannabis retail establishment. The building owner and applicant has agreed to this condition.”
