Cidery Gets Support To Expand

A Spallumcheen small business has got council’s support to get bigger.

The Farmstrong Cider Company on Maw Road is looking to increase its lounge area from the current 72 seats to 256, and to stay open an extra 90 minutes — until 11:30 p.m. — on Friday and Saturday nights.

Mayor Christine Fraser says the business runs out of a renovated barn, and now only needs Liquor Branch approval.

“That’s good news for them. They’ll be able to open up this season and hold events in the whole space. It was already in existing space, but now they can hold it in the whole space. Before they had to rope off a little area inside.  So as long as the Liquor Branch approves that, they’ll be good to go for this year,” Fraser tells Beach Radio News.

Fraser says the business is going into its second yer of operation.
